On Wednesday morning, a police team arrested AKM Fahim Mashroor, chief executive officer of bdjobs – Bangladesh’s largest online platform for jobseekers and job providers – on charges of defaming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

ADC Nazmul said one Md Sadik, a former Chhatra League mass education editor of the Dhaka University unit, had filed a case against Fahim on April 22 accusing him of defaming the prime minister on Facebook.
The plaintiff alleged that he found several Facebook posts by Fahim to be disparaging to the prime minister and was compelled to act.
Fahim has also served as the president of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) from 2013 to 2015.
