Dhaka: Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 15 projects worth Tk 17,987 crore.
With the help of the World Bank, a big initiative is being taken for the development of power plants. Expansion and empowerment of the country's eastern grid network will cost Tk 5,803 crore. The World Bank will pay Tk 3,624 crore in this money.
ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the NEC conference room in the city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday (February 27th).
After the ECNEC meeting, the minister briefed reporters about the projects, AHM Mustafa Kamal. Among others, Planning Secretary Ziaul Islam, member of the Department of General Economics said. Shamsul Alam also said.
Planning Minister said, today's meeting approved 15 (new and revised) projects. It will cost 17 thousand 987 crore 23 lakhs. Of this, the government funding will be 11 thousand 940 crore 32 lakh, the cost of the organization will be 523 crore 69 rupees and project assistance 5 thousand 523 crore 22 lakhs.
He said that it is necessary to build a strong and enlarged transmission system in the eastern region. Grid network strengths have been planned in the eastern region of the greater Comilla, Noakhali and Chittagong. Through this project the existing transmission infrastructure of these areas will be changed. Because the electricity grid in this region is very old and the capacity to perform is less than necessary.
The total cost of the project will be Tk 1,683.88 crore from the government's own fund, Tk 3,642 crore 48 lakh from the World Bank loan and Tk 478.77 crore from Power Grid Company of Bangladesh's fund from the implementing agency. Under the project, construction of 12.63 kilometer 400 KV transmission line will be constructed. Construction of 175.91 kilometer 230 KV transmission line, construction of 266.3 kilometer 132 KV transmission line, 2 400 KV sub-stations, 2 230 KV sub-stations, 10 132 KV sub-stations and management system and 86 under project He said that along with the Acquisition of Acres, the land will be developed in one thousand 15 thousand cubic meters of land.
