Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation should be closed: Finance Minister

Dhaka: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has said that the government should stop the Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC) completely.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has said this again in two days on the allegations made by the Finance Minister, Textile and Jute Minister Mirza Azam.

Replying to a question from journalists in the opening ceremony of the book 'Prahaas', the memorial of the officials and employees' welfare association at department of finance and financial institutions at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

On the other hand, the state minister for textiles and jute Mirza Azam said on Monday, "The finance minister has a negative attitude about jute. The impact of this negative attitude of the finance minister has also come to the finance ministry. As a result, jute development is being interrupted.

Asked about the statement of Jute Minister, the Finance Minister said that this is his personal opinion. So I do not want to comment on this. We want to revive the junk which is ours. A new market of jute has also been created. But I do not like the revision process.

He said, I think there is no need to remain in the process of Old BJMC Execution. I told the Ministry of Textile and Jute that there is no place for BJMC in this new system. The new system we are talking about will be the PPP (Public Private Partnership) project. There is BJMC brick sud be abolish (abolished).

The Finance Minister said, BJMC should be closed immediately. It's not that you have a cell to coordinate in the ministry, they will all see it. I told them officially.
