Dhaka: Ram Nath Kovind will take oath today as the 14th President of India. At the local time, there is a pledge to take oath in the Central Hall of Parliament. Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Jagdish Singh Khehar will sworn him as the new President.

Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, members of the Central Council of Ministers, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Trinamool Congress leader Mamta Bandopadhyay and other top political leaders will be present on the occasion.

The oath has been surrounded with extensive preparations and security measures.

Kovind is going to sit in India's highest constitutional position as the second Dalit leader after Narayanan.

Pranab Mukherjee will hand over the responsibility of the President of Delhi's Rasina Hills to the new President.

Pranab Mukherjee and Ram Nath Kovind will change the seats after the swearing-in. After the presidential election, the salute will be performed 21 times in honor of the new President. Ram Nath Kovind will give a speech at Central at 12:30

On July 17, 71-year-old Ram Nath Kovind got 65.65 percent Electoral votes. After the counting on July 20, Kovind received 4 lakh 79 thousand 585 electoral college votes. On the other hand, the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance-backed Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar received 2 lakh 4 thousand 594 votes.

NDA's Dalit candidate got 3 lakh 69 thousand 576 Electoral votes from the parliament. Ram Nath Kovind And Mira Kumar got 1 lakh 59 thousand 300 votes. Of these, 21 voting was declared illegal.
